IOI Loders Croklaan is one of the largest processors of palm oil (> 5mio ton/year) In The Netherlands it also processes cocoa butter. Products are used in bakery, non-dairy creamers, ice-cream, confectionary and infant nutrition. IOI LC applies crystallisation to recover different fractions of fats and oils.

Using the different melt and crystallisation performances of the fat components and the features of nucleation, growth, agglomeration and attrition IOI LC shows which types of crystalliser are applied for specific separations with examples of stirred crystallisers, static or quiescent crystallisers and scraped surface crystallisers.

Several kinds of solvent fractionation and crystallisation including their applicability were highlighted. www.croklaan.com
