At UT the Membrane Science and Technology group MST focuses at the Molecular Membrane Design to control mass transfer and the European Membrane Institute EMI is involved in the contract assistance in membranes varying from research to operational trouble shooting for industry.

The CapWa technology enables to recover water from flue gases of power plants in sufficient volume to cover the BFW make-up demand by selectively capturing water vapour through SPEEK coated PES hollow fibre microporous membranes and subsequently as condensate after cooling.

CapWa has now been tested in for 5.000 hours in the flue gas of a live power plant and in the dryer exhaust of a paper mill demonstrating that the membrane production method, the module configuration and the capture process perform. Recovered water EC is 100 respectively 10 μS/cm. www.utwente.nl/tnw/mtg
