MicroSieve Technologies (MST) focuses on flat sheet micro-sieves with smooth surfaces and well defined straight pores and on maximizing the high fluxes these membranes in principle have. High fluxes cause rapid cake layer formation and flux decline.

MST developed the sieve vacuum cleaner (HFFR High Frequency Flow Reversal) that combines permeate flow reversal by frequent back pulses and cake layer removal through a suction slot rotating at the feed side of the micro-sieve. Membranes and HFFR are stacked to make modules. As only the cake layer with a bit of feed is removed little liquid (<1%) is lost.

Using the rotating slot abandons the necessity of pump energy to create shear forces, reducing power consumption, while maintaining high fluxes for beer, whey and milk between 5.000 and 25.000 l/(m².h.bar) at 0,2 bar feed pressure. MST cooperates with Aquamarijn in NL. www.microsieve.net
