20150623 Estuary B.V. – Mr. Kees Tjeenk Willink – “Estuary supersonic dust separation technology for the agro- and food processing industry”

Originally developed by Shell and installed at 22 locations to remove solids and liquids from gas, the start-up Estuary markets the Twister technology outside oil & gas, targeting agro- and food processing. Atmospheric air from a vortex device is expanded in a Laval-tube in μsecs condensing water droplets to be separated in combination with dust particles at sub- or supersonic velocities down to 1,0 μm by large G-forces. A pressure drop of 0,5 bar is sufficient.

Twister shows low maintenance cost, no moving parts, continuous, compact, good turndown ratio, medium investment, moderate energy consumption. Schemes for a spray dryer with heat recovery were discussed. Water recovery is proven. www.estuaryholding.com
