20160913 Avans Applied University Breda- Mr. David Mendez Sevillano - ”Group contribution as a tool for solvent selection in the case of DSP of antioxidants”

The work, originally at TU Delft in an ISPT project, is part of the valorisation of okara, the waste from producing soybean milk. Usually these 0,1% dw Isoflavones are extracted in ethanol/water, which is slow.

By breaking down the functional groups from the polyphenol structure and building them up again later, models were developed and validated to predict the solubility of polyphenols in different solvents and to predict the related affinities. This enables selecting the optimum solvent and solvent mixtures. www.avans.nl; www.coebbe.nl
